Current Orchestra President and Musician
Betty Herbert is the current President for Nebo Philharmonic Orchestra. Terms of service July 1, 2014 to June, 30, 2018. Treasurer/Secretary 2012 to 2014. She’s been a member of orchestra since around 2009.
Betty started playing the violin in 4th grade, switched to viola in the 8th grade and remains her primary instrument. She started playing Bass with the New Horizons Orchestra, and actually played her first few years on bass with the Nebo Philharmonic Orchestra. She also plays in the American Fork Symphony.
Betty has also served in the PTA for over 20 years in various capacities including multiple school presidencies and Council President over all of Nebo School District. She has served in the Spanish Fork Community Theatre for over 25 years (serving as President and Treasurer for many years), and Children’s Theatre for around 10 years. She has served as a Boy Scout leader and Girl Scout leader for over 32 years receiving her Silver Beaver, most influential women in Scouting award, and Freddie Award.
Betty has a degree in Accounting/Business from Brigham Young University. She has run the Flint-Stick company and kept books for her husbands and her graphics business – Product Shot. She also works as a substitute teacher for Nebo School District, and the 2017-18 school year will be here 20th year.
Betty is active in her faith and loves to work on family history. She also loves to read, and play with her 2 chinchillas. She is married and has 4 children and 6 grandchildren.
